The brief
Built around one wall
A photography studio is really a room with an argument about light. Studio Six had one north-facing wall worth building around, so we did.
Everything else — showroom, storage, the small kitchen — is arranged to keep that wall clear from morning to late afternoon. The showroom rolls away when a shoot needs the floor.
Materials and finish
Built around one wall
The whole plan is organised around the north wall, which takes soft, even light for most of the working day. Nothing tall sits in front of it. The showroom shelving, the trolleys, and the seating are all on castors, so the room can be cleared to a single surface in ten minutes.
Finishes are deliberately neutral so they never colour a shot: birch ply, raw steel, and a mid-grey floor. The only warmth in the room comes from the daylight and from whatever is being photographed that week — which is exactly the way the client wanted it.
